  • Dr. Michelle Dorsey

    Biography

    Michelle Dorsey is honored to be entering her second term as LWVMP President. A United Nations Observer for LWV of the United States, she attended the 2017 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and represented LWVUS at the 2018 Commission on the Status of Women. A full-time practicing physician, Dr. Dorsey fosters a culture of health within her patients and her community. She currently excels in many leadership roles in the American College of Radiology (3 committees), American Association for Women Radiologists (Communications Committee), Arizona Radiological Society (Treasurer), We the People Summit (steering committee), and Physicians for Social Responsibility-Arizona (board member). Recently she completed an Executive Certificate with Concentration in Public Leadership from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She is particularly passionate about health care for all, women’s reproductive health, the environment, voting rights, money in politics and pay equity.

  • Rivko Knox

    Biography

    Rivko became a 50-year member in 2017, was very active in LWV from 1967-77, involved in various studies & was a part-time League office manager. Since she retired from her FT job as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Manager for AZ in 2003, she ‘reactivated,’ joining the Board as secretary, being the LWVAZ’s representative on the Citizens Initiative Review (CIR) Advisory Board & attending monthly meetings of the Citizen’s Clean Elections Commission (CCEC). She helped coordinate the ‘futile’ Clean Elections & Campaign Finance Initiative and Referendum to overturn SB 1516 in 2016; was one of the 6 members on the January 2017 LWVAZ’s Voters’ Rights Summit Planning Committee; is one of two LWVMP members on the three We The People Summit Planning Committees; & helped plan/organize the League Day at the Legislature on January 7.; was elected the LWVMP’s Advocacy Chair in 2016&17; and hopes to be selected for the same in 2018. Finally, Rivko became the main ‘on site’ Lobbyist for LWVAZ starting in 2017 & continuing through 2018.

  • Shelley Palmer

    Biography

    Shelley is relatively new to the League but brings much needed computer skills to the organization. She is experienced in creating and maintaining custom database applications. Working with the documentation provided by LWVMP, she has created a Membership database to track our members and our contacts with them. Shelley has lived in Arizona since 2010. She has two daughters, 14 and 19 and has been happily married for 30 years.

  • Diana Nashban

    Biography

    With a Master’s degrees in Elementary Ed and Special Ed, Diana taught elementary school for 45 years, retiring in 2014. Volunteer work has included Council for Exceptional Children, Special Olympics, and serving on the board of her synagogue. She first joined League in Bartlesville, OK, where she also ran for a legislative district seat. She was secretary of her HOA Board until 2017, which is also the year she joined LWVMP.

  • Martha O’Connor

    Biography

    Martha says she is “interested in helping get new members to the League involved in the League.” Her background includes practice as an Occupational Therapist at the beginning and the end of her working career. First working in psychosocial dysfunction and later as a Home Health therapist. Martha taught Occupational Therapy and graduate education for 10 years at the Medical College of Georgia, then was the Director of Accreditation for the American Occupational Therapy Association in Bethesda MD. She was the Director of Examination Development for the National Board for Occupational Therapists in Gaithersburg MD. Martha moved to Arizona in 2002 to take the position as Executive Director of the Council on Chiropractic Education, the accreditation arm for the Chiropractic profession. Martha states, “I was involved with the League of Women Voters in
    Augusta Georgia, when we still did the presidential debates. I rejoined the League in Arizona in 2016 and have worked on a project with the ACLU on voter registration after submitting an address change to MVR Phoenix area or WIC Phoenix area. I am politically active both collecting signatures for petitions and checking signatures on petitions. I believe as a relatively new member of the League I can help get new members introduced and active in League activities.”

  • Dale Kalika

    Biography

    is the owner of Marketography, a consulting firm that focuses on management development, training, and marketing services particularly in the world of millennials and women and leadership. Dale has spoken to many professional groups about Millennials. She has also discussed Millennial issues in the national media and discussed women and leadership. Professionally, Dale has worked in human resource management, marketing and product management, primarily in Fortune 500 companies. As a former senior lecturer at Arizona State University in the W.P. Carey School of Business, Department of Management, Dale designed a new course on Women and Leadership in Business Today. She also co- wrote and produced a video on the challenges young women (millennials) face in leadership called Balance the Scales that is on YouTube. Dale has also been an active volunteer in her communities with Social Ventures Partners in their non-profit seeding competitions called Fast Pitch. She has also been the President of the Board of Directors for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Organization in Phoenix, a member of the Board of Directors of Riveredge Nature Center (Milwaukee, WI) and the Chair of the Small Business Marketing committee in a United Way Campaign in Milwaukee, WI.

  • Chelsea Grieve

    Biography
    Chelsea is a non-profit professional and freelance writer living in Chandler, Arizona. She is passionate about strengthening communities and healing trauma. She began her career as campus-based activist in Michigan advocating for stronger policies against sexual violence on campus as well as better funded resources for women, LGBTQ students, and students of color and now works for Child Crisis of Arizona. Chelsea received her MA in Communication with a Specialization in Women’s Studies from the University of Maine, and is a graduate of the Arizona Emerge class of 2018. She is a member of the Junior League of Phoenix and volunteers for a variety of community programs.

  • Gerry Corey

    Biography

    Prior to adopting the League, Gerry had worked for almost 25 years at ASU as an assistant dean in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Before moving to Arizona in 1989, she had several paid, and unpaid, positions in Nevada politics. This has made her eminently qualified to help further the goals of this venerable volunteer organization. She truly does appreciate every hour that a volunteer puts into the League!

  • Gloria Olsen

    Biography

    Gloria Olsen is a native Texan who spent most of her adult life in Arizona. Trained as a clinical psychologist, her career was spent in hospital administration with a specialty in psychiatric hospitals. She has worked in private nonprofit and public settings. She is a recent LWV member, having returned to Arizona after 20 + years in Texas, where she was active in Texas Democratic Women. She has experience in nonprofit governance, healthcare, and environmental issues. She has served as secretary for her church board and for two nonprofit organizations in Texas.

  • Devin Millington

    Biography
    Devin is an USAF veteran and worked in law enforcement early in his career. He switched to social services and then went back to school to earn his Bachelor’s degree in elementary education, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Devin taught third grade until his disability forced an early retirement. While teaching, he taught himself how to build websites and won the AZTEA best Arizona website in education, 2008. Devin joined The League of Women Voters in 2017 and offered his website services as a unique way to contribute to Leage. Devin is also an accomplished portrait artist, and a freelance writer & photographer for a local Phoenix magazine.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Devin’s responsibilities include designing, updating and hosting the LWVMP website. Devin relies on other board members to create content for the website, as all content must align with policies and rules of The League.

  • Cindy Hans

    Biography

    Cindy is a retired educator, having spent more than two decades as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and grant specialist. She describes herself as “a foot soldier with the successful Save Our Schools - Arizona campaign, resulting in getting Prop. 305 on the ballot.” And she’s currently working directly with the Outlaw Dirty Money Campaign for another amendment to be on the ballot in November 2018. She serves as the LWV liaison to this campaign. LWV supported both initiatives. Cindy has been serving as the local League Liaison to LWVAZ board at the request of LWVMP President Michelle Dorsey since last fall to fill a vacancy, and is willing to continue that service through the 2018-2019 year.
