John Lewis National Day of Commemoration & Action -- CANCELED

Join LWV Metro Phoenix for a TEACH IN event with presentations on the three Voting Rights Acts currently before Congress, a Commemoration and Action Honoring John Lewis, as well as Get Out the Vote texting event to Primary Voters!  

Dr. Dwayne McIntosh, from the NAACP will be joining us to speak on the Legacy of John Lewis and information on the Voting Rights Acts currently before Congress. 

Details:  

6:00 pm Welcome reception with authentic African American food & beverage and presentations commemorating and honoring John Lewis, including information on key legislation and how to use the LWV to contact your Legislators to demand support.

7:30 pm Training for “Get Out the Vote” texting event.  We will train members on texting to voters in Maricopa County to get their ballots mailed or have a plan to vote in the Primary on July 30th

8:00 pm Program ends

Our Champion, former Congressman John Lewis, saw this democracy crisis coming. In the last years of his life he championed two pieces of federal legislation to secure our democracy, the Freedom To Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Please join us in honoring him with this day of commemoration and action.
