Voter Services

The goal of the Voter Services team is to increase election awareness and voting in Maricopa County. This team focuses on motivating registered voters to vote by providing election and polling place information. Some team members are Deputy Registrars and register people to vote, including new citizens at citizenship ceremonies. Team members also attend community events to discuss the League’s mission of empowering voters and defending democracy.

Voter Registration

Throughout the year, the Voter Services team hosts exhibits at various festivals where they provide voter information and registration material. They also sponsor voter registration drives in neighborhoods and at various events in Metro Phoenix.

Festival, Parades, Events - Some of our past festivals include Phoenix Pride, Dia De Los Muertos and Martin Luther King Day.  If you are interested in participating, contact voterslwvmp@gmail.com or go directly to our Event Calendar and sign up for an event.

Naturalization Ceremonies - Quarterly we participate in federal naturalization ceremonies; this is a great opportunity to witness our democracy in action and assist new citizens to register to vote. Many League members are deputy registrars. The County Recorder gives us the opportunity to have our members help register new voters at naturalization ceremonies. In order to participate, members must be a registered Deputy Registrar with the Maricopa County Recorder office. If you are interested, you can go to their website at: Maricopa County Recorder's Office.

Voter Registration Training - Periodically we hold informal voter registration training through webinars and in-person events. However , you do not need to be trained to participate in voter registration events because there will always be experienced League members in attendance. See the Event Calendar for training dates.

Educating Voters

Every year, we host events and programs to educate voters about elected officials at the federal, state, and local levels. We also distribute educational materials about state and local ballot issues. Through print and online resources, we equip voters with essential information about the election process, including polling place hours, locations, absentee or early voting rules, voter registration deadlines, ID requirements and more. The LWV-sponsored website, VOTE411.org is a one-stop-shop for voter information and a great tool for all citizens.

Text and Phone Campaigns

In addition to public events where we engage with voters and hand out information,  the League conducts voter outreach through text and phone banking campaigns. This is a critical component to reaching out to ALL voters and to increase voter participation in elections. One of the tools we utilize for these campaigns is Outreach Circle, a cell phone app that enables us to maximize our messaging and number of voters we contact.

Youth Voter Program

We provide an engaging presentation to high school and college students to help them understand why it is important to vote! In addition to educating, we help develop their intention to vote and overcome barriers to casting a ballot. We also create awareness of how the political process of voting brings about change that can have significant impacts on their lives and futures. Real life examples that are important to youth are discussed, such as higher education costs, housing, wages, women’s health, climate, and social and criminal justice issues!

Our goal is to energize our youth into becoming lifelong voters by building the confidence and skills needed to participate in our democracy. As always, we provide registration information and VOTE411 access for all their voter education needs. If you are interested in participating in this program or would like more information please contact us at infolwvmp@gmail.com.
