This message is sent to all valued members of the League of Women Voters Metropolitan Phoenix (LWVMP)

 

As required by the LWVMP bylaws, this is a 30 day advance notice of the 2025 Annual Business Meeting for all members

 

I invite you to join us for our Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, April 27, 1 - 4 p.m. (MST) via Zoom.  There is no fee, and this meeting is a member-only event.

 

This will be a great time to reconnect, celebrate our year’s successes and prepare for the year ahead. 

 

We would love every member to join us!

REGISTER HERE - LWVMP 2025 Annual Business Meeting - 4/27/2025


Registration is required to attend the meeting. Do not share your registration link, as members will be voting on business matters.  Each member must join using their own unique link and ensure their name is displayed accurately during the Zoom meeting.


We ask that all MP members join the meeting on a computer using the Zoom link provided in the confirmation email you will receive after you register. Voting during the business meeting requires a computer or a smartphone.


During the business portion of the meeting, there will be items that are information only and items that will require a membership vote.


Information Items:

  • Financial Report

  • Bylaws update as required by LWVUS to align with Transformation updates to membership categories and dues.

Voting Items: 

  • Proposed budget for 2025-2026

  • Elections of Secretary, and two open elected board of director positions

  • LWVMP Public Policy Position on Housing

  • Proposed NEW local public policy studies for which there are at least three committed members who will undertake the study.  Proposals for studies should be submitted in writing to infolwvmp@gmail.com including the names of the three league members who are willing to conduct the study. The proposals for public policy positions must address local issues, not state or national issues. 

Overview of Business Meeting

  • Member involvement is our priority, so please come prepared to participate fully.

  • We will conduct all business in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order.

  • Marcia Barry, LWVMP President will officiate our annual meeting.

  • All comments or questions from the floor will be addressed to the officiant, Marcia Barry

  • No new amendments will be permitted. All members were previously invited to submit recommendations to the bylaws committee through notices in Members Matter. 

  • Motions to amend cannot change the basic premise of the proposed amendment offered in the original motion. If, after discussion, you do not agree with the proposed change, simply vote against the motion. Please prepare a written copy of any motion to amend a proposed amendment to the bylaws if you wish to do so during the meeting.  Amendments to the proposed bylaws must be in writing and submitted via email to the secretary at infolwvmp@gmail.com no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 22nd.

Additionally there will be an online ABM Questions and Answers Session on April 22 at 6 pm, prior to the Annual Business Meeting on April 27th.
 
This Zoom meeting is open to all members, and intended for questions or clarification on the Annual Business Meeting agenda items. Please read the ABM documents in advance, and use the Q&A Session for any needed clarification prior to the ABM.
 
 Use the separate link below to register for the ABM Questions and Answers Session. Don't forget to register for the ABM itself, on April 27th - members must register separately for both sessions!
